The Beginners Guide
To Firearms

Do You Want to Become a Safe and Responsible Firearms Owner?

It All Starts Right Here…

“Yes, I Want to Become a Safe Firearms Owner”

I know that’s a crazy question to ask because who would say “NO” I don’t want to be a safe and responsible gun owner.

The truth is anyone that owns a gun wants to be safe and responsible.

But just because you want to be safe and responsible doesn't automatically mean you are.

I see people everyday...that have owned guns for years…that violate the eight foundational skills of gun safety and it opens the door to people getting hurt or killed.

This class is not to obtain your concealed carry permit, this is an additional add on option to further your training.

"I asked him to leave my advanced shooters course…"

You must understand the 8 firearm safety rules. However simply memorizing them is not enough you have to be able to demonstrate these rules on a subconscious level. Recently a man attended an advanced shooting course with me. After 15 minutes I had to ask him to leave because he continued to be unsafe with his firearm. He claimed that he had been shooting for years and he had memorized the firearm safety rules. But he couldn’t demonstrate these rules on a subconscious level.

The Seven Firearm Safety Rules

Firearm safety rules are intended to prevent accidents from happening. Unfortunately some people are too lazy to memorize these rules or they don’t think these rules apply to them.

Always keep your firearm pointed in a safe direction.

Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.

Always keep your firearm unloaded.

Always keep your firearm securely stored

Always treat all firearms as if they are loaded

Always Safety check your firearm before, after & during use.

Always know what is in front of and beyond your target.

Simply memorizing these rules is not enough, you must also be able to demonstrate each firearm safety rule on a subconscious level if you truly want to keep you and your family safe.

Here's What You'll Learn

How  a
Semi-Automatic
Pistol Works

Many first time shooters are intimidated by semi-automatic firearms because they believe they are too complex. However these individuals quickly realized that once they have a deep understanding of how a semi-auto pistol works intimidation turns to confidence.

In this section we will discuss how a semi automatic pistol works, we will identify each component, discuss the four most common pistol actions, learn how the components operate and much more.

How a Revolver Works

Revolvers are typically much easier to operate than a semi-auto pistol. However this doesn’t mean they are without their fair share of challenges.

In this section we will identify each component of a revolver, how each component operates, the three most common revolver actions, how a revolver works, and much more.

How to Safety Check Your Firearm

If your goal is to prevent your firearm from discharging accidentally then you must become an expert at performing a safety inspection. This process is called safety checking. In this section we will discuss a step by step process you should perform every time you pick up a firearm to ensure it is unloaded.

I believe that if people would master this one skill the majority of firearm accidents would be prevented. To become a safe and responsible firearms owner you must master the art of safety checking your firearm and this action must become an OCD habit.

How to Load & Unload Your Firearm

Understanding how to properly load and unload your firearm is critical to your ability to safely operate your firearm and prevent accidents. In this section we're going to discuss how to properly load and unload a semi automatic pistol and revolver.

How to Identify and Fix Firearm Malfunctions

A firearm malfunction is something that has occurred with the firearm or ammunition that is preventing the firearm from being operated in a safe manner. There are two categories of firearm malfunctions. A basic malfunction and a deadly malfunction.

Before heading to the range you need to understand how to identify and fix each type of firearm malfunction in a safe manner. It is critical for you to memorize each of these if you plan on becoming a safe and responsible firearm owner.

The Proper Shooting Fundamentals

There is a right and a wrong way to shoot a gun. Unfortunately most people never learn the right way. In this section you will learn the proper shooting fundamentals necessary for you to safely and accurately shoot your firearm. These skills include;

  • The Two Handed Pistol Grip
  • The Two Handed Revolver Grip
  • Understanding Sight Alignment and Sight Picture
  • How to Shoot with Both Eyes Open
  • The Proper Shooting Position
  • Understanding Trigger Control and finger placement
  • How to control your breathing for accuracy
  • How to control recoil effectively

Understanding Firearm Ammunition

There are hundreds of different calibers and bullet types available today. With so many options available choosing the right one can be a confusing task and choosing the wrong one could end in someone getting hurt. In this section we will be discussing the components of ammunition and how each one works, how to choose the right ammunition for your firearm, ammunition types and quality.

Safely Going to the Range

Heading to the gun range for the first time can be an intimidating process. In this section we will discuss exactly what you should expect and what’s expected from you. We will also discuss the differences between an indoor and outdoor gun range, supplies you will need and finally gun range etiquette

How to Safely Store Your Firearm

Every year over thousands of children are wounded or killed due to an unsecured firearm in the home. Honestly this number should be zero and I believe it could be with a combination of education and proper firearm storage. In this section we are going to discuss how to properly store a firearm in your home and in your vehicle. We will also discuss some of the biggest mistakes many concealed permit holders make and how you can avoid them.

Here’s the bottom line…

Do you know all these foundational skills without even thinking about it? On a subconscious level? If you cannot answer with a resounding yes, you owe it to yourself and others to learn and internalize these eight foundational skills and principles.

In my experience most people, 90%, are lacking one or more of these foundational skills that EVERY gun owner needs to know.

Your Two Options to Learn These

Critical Skills.

Figure it out on your own

I recently met a woman named Emily at the range for a private training session. I always begin by asking “Why do you want to learn how to safely handle a gun?”

I wasn’t prepared for her answer…

“My best friend, Ashley, recently got her concealed carry permit. Last week a group of us were hanging out at my house for a girl’s night. Ashley was excited about getting her new gun and we all wanted to see it. It was really small with a black top and a light blue bottom…The gunshot was so loud that it was hard to understand what was happening. That’s when I saw Jessica, she was slumped over in the chair. Gasping for air. I want to learn about gun safety so that something like this never happens again…”

These women choose to figure it out for themselves and someone is dead because of that decision.

Choosing to figure this out on your own is EXTREMELY dangerous. You may end up killing yourself, your children or your spouse and it can all be avoided if you take the time to train and develop these foundational skills.

The Experts Guide to Kids & Guns

Do you have kids? If you do, I’m sure you're going to keep your firearms secured in a safe away from your children. But what if they find a gun at a friend’s house one day? Could your kids find a gun in a park or on the street? Of course. When I was a kid, I found a gun under my parents’ car.

15-year-old charged with manslaughter.

Did you hear about the 15-year-old kid that was recently charged with manslaughter in Lithia? He was hanging out at a friend’s house when, long story short, the teens decided to pick the lock of the master bedroom where they found a handgun. One of the teens picked up the gun and noticed that the magazine was missing. Brad was sitting in a bedroom playing Xbox when this teen pointed the gun at his head and pressed the trigger.

There was no way to take the bullet back as it excited the barrel with a blast…

In this course I'll cover how to talk to your kids about guns, safety, storage and more!
